Alcohol Consequences
How does alcohol affect the human body?
The human body absorbs the consumed alcohol through thestomach and the small intestine. Food slows down the absorption rate andthis is why people are more rapidly affected by alcohol when their stomach is empty.
Then, alcohol is carried through blood to the heart, the brain, the muscles and the other organs. This process takes only a few minutes and, very frequently, generates a pleasant feeling (euphoria).
Our body cannot store alcohol, thus it has to get rid of it. Alcohol is usually rejected, through the liver, by urination. Some quantity is also rejected by transpiration and breath. Each person's capacity to metabolize alcohol depends on a series of factors, such as age, sex, weight.
Our body rejects alcohol at a pace of 1 unit per hour, approximately. There is no way to accelerate this process. |
